Actionaid Zambia is seeking to employ Assistant Accountants (02) to provide support to the financial management, programme team and partners by managing day-to-day transactions, reporting in compliance with Actionaid Zambia financial policies, guidelines and statutory requirements. The job holder will be responsible for maintaining accounting data/information, updating ledgers and reconciliations.
Main Duties
  • Collaborate with accounting team to support various projects and activities on a daily basis.
  • Provide assistance to prepare financial statements according to company policies.
  • Keep financial records up-to date
  • Perform journal entries as per established and statutory accounting standards.
  • Carry out reconciliations of account, general ledger and sub-ledger.
  • Provide financial information for business analysis and auditing when needed.
  • Process payments and invoices accurately and timely as per company procedures.
  • Verify financial statements, ledgers and accounts for errors and make appropriate corrections or refer to supervisor if errors are of complex nature.
  • Answer customer queries and issues in timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare, reconcile and record the payments.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports to management for approval.
  • Prepare management reports related to accounts payable and receivables.
  • Prepare period end journals for prepayments, accruals, floats and depreciation.
Actionaid Zambia is looking for a Programme Manager- Resilience Livelihoods and Climate Justice.
The holder of the position shall be responsible for leading successful delivery of ActionAid Zambia’s Country Strategic Objectives on Resilient Livelihoods and Climate Justice aimed at building the capacity of communities living in poverty and exclusion to be resilient in the face of climate change and other natural and man-made disasters; adopt sustainable agriculture practices that enhance food security and sovereignty whilst contributing to sustainable management of natural resources.
Main Duties
  1. Lead in designing programmatic and policy initiatives for the advancement of resilient livelihoods and climate justice;
  2. Identifying and leading in the development of researches, advocacy/policy positions, and opportunities to influence policy on resilience and climate change at national, regional and internationally;
  3. Coordinating effective learning, policy, research and advocacy engagement with AAZ and among issue based CSOs locally and externally and maintaining linkages with key government departments and stakeholders for external engagement;
  4. Contribute effectively towards programme fundraising for implementation of initiatives under livelihood resilience and climate justice;
  5. Preparing timely and quality report as per donor requirements and in line with AAZ’s M&E reporting cycle;
  6. Maintain coordination with the LRP Coordinators for planning and implementation of programmes on resilience, climate justice and natural resources management at district and LRP level;
  7. In collaboration with communications and M&E/ quality Assurance unit, ensure regular documentation, promotion of shared learning and ensuring sound donor communications;
  8. Support the programmes team in the establishment of policy positions on natural resources, resilience, agroecology and climate justice issues and in implementation of set programmes within the LRPs and among partners;
  9. Lead in designing innovative interventions aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture (Agro ecology), natural resources management, and resilient livelihoods in relation to women and youth resilience.
