The Company seeks the services of an UNDERGROUND MANAGER x 1 reporting to the Mine Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, controlling and coordinating all production operations to ensure that both production targets and development plans are achieved in compliance with all relevant Mining Regulations and within the approved budget.

Underground Manager

Responsibilities

Planning and organizing the economic extraction of ore to achieve or better the prescribed tonnages and grades scheduled in the mining programme.

Initiating short, medium and long term planning to ensure that future production forecast can be achieved on time.

Ensure that all operations at the shaft are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with Mining Regulations and standard practices.

Control operating and capital expenditure to ensure that costs are within the approved budget and identify anomalies which could affect future budgets.

Maintain discipline and sound industrial relations among subordinates and supervisors in order to promote good industrial climate conducive to high productivity.

Maintain effective communication/liaison with service departments and other mining sections to ensure continuity of production operations.

Ensure that development and training of subordinates is carried out in order to provide an effective and qualified labour force that delivers to expected performance levels.

Qualifications

Grade 12 Certificate

Degree in Mining Engineering or its equivalent

At least 12 years’ experience in an underground mining environment.

Must have Blasting Licence and First Aid certificate.

Must be registered with EIZ and ERB
